About Maria
Maria Jose Salguero Sosa is a marketing and branding professional and student at Georgia Gwinnett College, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, expected in 2027. Her professional interests center on digital marketing, social media strategy, content creation, branding, event planning, and audience engagement. She currently serves as a Sports Marketing & Fan Engagement Intern with Georgia Gwinnett College Athletics, supporting campaign planning, social media coordination, promotional events, digital engagement, event operations, and fan experiences. She also works as a student influencer for the college, creating videos, photography, and social media content that highlights campus life, academic opportunities, and student experiences.
Maria is also the founder and social media manager of GGCLooks, a creative Instagram platform she launched in March 2023 to showcase the everyday fashion and individuality of Georgia Gwinnett College students. Through GGCLooks, she develops content strategy, captures candid photography, analyzes social media insights, and builds an online community around fashion and self-expression. Her photography experience extends back to 2017 through MJSSPHOTO, her personal photography portfolio, where she specializes in portrait, event, and sports photography and uses Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for editing and post-production. Her creative work has received recognition through selection for an exhibition at the High Museum and an art exhibition at the Gwinnett County Courthouse in Lawrenceville.
In addition to her marketing and creative work, Maria has gained hands-on experience in event planning and community engagement. As a Recreation Leader at Bethesda Park Senior Center, she planned and coordinated programs and events for senior adults, strengthening her skills in program execution, community engagement, and creating inclusive experiences. She has also completed professional development in event planning through the SBA Events Professional Development Program at Georgia Gwinnett College and earned a Digital Marketing certification through HubSpot. Maria’s approach to marketing emphasizes creativity, authenticity, and meaningful audience connection, and she believes that an individual’s personality, perspective, and heart remain among the most valuable qualities they can bring to the marketing profession.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think marketing can feel very oversaturated right now, especially with AI taking over many aspects of content creation and digital work. However, the one thing AI cannot take away from you is your personality and what makes you uniquely yourself. My advice is to be authentic and not be afraid to put yourself out there. If you are nervous about posting or sharing your work, do it anyway. AI can assist with digital content, but it cannot replicate your personality, your heart, or the unique perspective you bring to the table. Those qualities are what make you stand out.
