About Mariam

Mariam Abdirahim serves as Quality Systems Manager at Grifols in the biopharma biotech industry. In this role, she manages compliance, quality initiatives, and prepares centers for FDA audits to ensure product safety. Her career path began after high school with a gap year that led her to CSL Plasma as a screener, sparking her passion for the field. She then worked in a dental office briefly before returning to blood products, spending about seven years at the American Red Cross. There, she received the Excellence Award in 2018, selected from among 1,500 employees. She later moved to London, serving as a business lead at Wandsworth Council, before returning to Charlotte, North Carolina, in December 2025 to rejoin the biopharma sector. Abdirahim holds a CNA earned at age 16, attended Central Piedmont Community College in 2008 for biology and nursing studies, earned a dental assistant certification, and is currently pursuing an MBA. She is multilingual and has applied this skill in community mentoring efforts.
