Her Interview
Ten minutes with Mariam
01What do you attribute your success to?
Jesus is the one who inspires me to be a faithful worker, gives me the will and desire to work, gives me grace for new opportunities, wisdom for my work, and the ability to apply knowledge at the right time.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My husband told me God is the God of the universe, so wherever I am, if I have God, I can succeed and have the career path that I want. This gave me confidence during rocky times like COVID in 2020.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find what you are really interested in because life is too short to be working on something you're not interested in. Find that thing and master it. It's good to broaden your horizon but mastering one thing really gets you further in your career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is making sure patient safety is first before profit, as companies are there to make a profit. The culture of the company matters. The opportunity is to make products that are safer and still bring profit, requiring creativity and investment in research and design to create safe and affordable products.
