Her Interview
Ten minutes with Mariana
01What do you attribute your success to?
I’d credit my success to a mix of solid systems and a strong personality fit for this work.
I love building processes that keep everything clear and efficient, so projects run smoothly and clients feel taken care of.
And at the same time, I show up with curiosity, collaboration, and genuine investment in their goals. That balance of structure and heart is what keeps the quality high and the relationships strong.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that done is better than perfect. Perfection sounds noble, but in real life it slows you down, keeps you second-guessing, and stops great ideas from reaching the people who need them.
I've learned that progress comes from taking action. Every project, every message, every new system gets better because it exists, not because I waited until it felt flawless.
That mindset has allowed me to grow faster, serve clients better, and keep momentum on my side.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I’d tell young women entering this industry to trust their abilities a lot earlier than they think they’re allowed to.
You don’t need permission to take up space or to call yourself a professional... Your voice, your ideas, and your instincts are valuable right now, not after a decade of experience or ten more certificates.
Learn, yes. Grow, always. But don’t shrink while you do it. The sooner you back your own talent, the sooner others will too.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI is the biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity in our field right now.
It’s changing expectations fast. Clients want speed, scalability, and lower costs. That can feel threatening if we think our value is just converting words from one language into another...
But here’s the real opportunity: the more automated the world becomes, the more brands need someone who understands context, culture, persuasion, and strategy.
Spanish that sounds correct isn’t enough. It has to connect. AI can do the first part. We excel at the second.
Translation and localization experts who lean into AI instead of fearing it will lead the industry: we'll build smarter workflows, handle bigger projects, and focus our energy on the creative and strategic work that actually moves the needle.
In short, AI isn’t replacing us. It’s pushing us to level up.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and authenticity are non-negotiables for me... I like things out in the open: clear expectations, honest communication, and no guesswork (no smoke and mirrors). It builds trust faster and makes every collaboration smoother.
And authenticity matters just as much. I want to work with people who show up as themselves, since I do the same. It’s how we build real relationships instead of transactional ones. When we’re honest about what we need, what’s working, and what isn’t, the results are always better.
Those two values guide how I run my business and how I live my life. They make everything simpler, kinder, and a whole lot more effective.
