About Maribel
Maribel Collazo is a human resources professional with extensive experience in talent acquisition, where she sources and hires candidates from entry-level to senior positions while ensuring fair and equitable compensation offers. She holds a Master's of Education in Integrated Studies with a concentration in business from Cambridge College, earned in 1998, and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Speech Communications from McAllister College. Collazo is AIRS CDR certified and holds a certification from Cornell University on Diversity and Inclusion. During her tenure at GSA, she was nominated as the Regional Diversity Champion for hiring the most diverse candidates for senior-level positions. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including a Latino professional network, the Boston Human Resources Council, the New England Human Resources Association (NERA), and ALFA (Association of Latinos and Professionals), where she volunteered at the convention. Collazo attributes her success to giving people the benefit of the doubt, asking the right questions, collaborating with coworkers, and educating herself through organizations and conferences, including those focused on artificial intelligence. She values integrity in her work and advises others to do what they love, feel the fear but do it anyway, as the sky's the limit.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to giving people the benefit of the doubt, asking the right questions, collaborating with coworkers, and educating myself through different organizations and conferences in areas like Artificial Intelligence.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Do what you love, and the money will follow.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The sky's the limit. Feel the fear, but do it anyway, because we're always learning along the way and we don't know everything.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Artificial intelligence is both the biggest challenge and opportunity right now. It facilitates our work but candidates are also using it, and not everyone is using it for good. It's growing fast and not every industry is ready.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is most important, along with giving people an opportunity and the benefit of the doubt when hiring candidates.
