Maricela Valdovinos

Maricela Valdovinos is a dedicated educator and leader with a passion for empowering students through academic excellence and positive school culture. With over a decade of experience at Bob Hope School, she has served in several impactful roles—including CTE and Math Teacher, Tutorial Coordinator, Middle School Disciplinarian, and Assistant Campus Director. In her current position as Elementary Assistant Campus Director, Maricela plays a vital role in shaping young minds while fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Her career journey reflects a strong foundation in both education and administration. Before transitioning into education, she worked in payroll and human resources, where she developed key organizational and communication skills. Maricela holds a Master of Education from Texas A&M University and a Teacher Certification in Mathematics from Lamar University. Fluent in Spanish and skilled in team leadership, she continues to be a positive force in the Beaumont-Port Arthur community, guiding students and staff toward growth and success.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my extensive experience, seeing my students succeed and pass, and the effective use of manipulatives in teaching.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always be passionate about what you do.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to remember that although there will be difficult moments, it will get better, and with time you will master your skills—plus, building strong relationships with your students is key.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is managing last-minute appointment cancellations, which creates significant adversities in providing consistent support.

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are dignity and respect.
