What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the combination of resilience, opportunity, and a genuine passion for my field. As a dual citizen originally from Canada, I grew up speaking both English and French, which has helped me navigate diverse environments throughout my career. Although I initially thought I would pursue law, everything changed when a manager took a chance on me and introduced me to the accounting field. That opportunity opened the door to a profession I truly love.
I have been in accounting for many years, and I currently serve as a Senior Accountant for an international staffing firm in Houston, Texas, where I’ve lived for the past decade. I take great pride in the work I do and feel grateful to be growing within a company that continues to challenge and inspire me.
This past year, I also launched my own bookkeeping business, which has been an exciting and fulfilling venture. I enjoy helping clients clean up and organize their financial records, and I’ve even begun training other bookkeepers to support my growing workload. Balancing my business with my full-time role has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud of the career path I’ve built.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never let anything stop me. I’ve learned that persistence, confidence, and the willingness to keep moving forward—no matter the challenge—are the foundations of long-term success. This mindset has guided every stage of my career and continues to push me toward new opportunities and growth.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is simple: don’t give up. Accounting can be demanding, but perseverance is everything. Stay focused, stay confident, and trust that every challenge you face is shaping you into a stronger and more capable professional. Your determination will take you further than you can imagine.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me both professionally and personally are passion, dedication, and joy in what I do. I’ve always admired the discipline and artistry of professional hula dancers, and I try to bring that same sense of grace, focus, and authenticity into my own work. Outside of work, my two dogs are my heart—I absolutely spoil them and cherish the happiness they bring into my life. I also love cooking, which is my way of unwinding and creating comfort for the people I care about. These values keep me grounded, inspired, and balanced.
