About Marijose

Marijose Cavazos is a consumer analytics executive currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she is pursuing a full-time master's degree in data science and analytics with AI at the University of Minnesota. She recently left her position at Accenture to focus on her studies, having worked there as a consumer analytics executive for a tobacco industry client. In that role, she was responsible for analyzing data from marketing campaigns, print ads, and other publicity for three specific brands, assessing their performance, financial impacts, and effects on customer repurchase trends before presenting findings to marketing teams. Before joining Accenture, she worked at another consultancy firm, handling projects for clients in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors. For the pharmaceutical client, she organized and visualized HR data, while for a hygiene supplies company she automated reports and organized retail information for top management using ETL processes. A professional figure skater since childhood, Cavazos is a member of the United States Figure Skating Association, the Mexican Federation, and the Professional Skaters Association. She advises young women entering her field to overcome self-doubt and imposter syndrome by trusting themselves and pursuing their goals, noting that even if they fall short, they will still be ahead.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Sometimes we're in our heads too much. We block ourselves from what we are able to achieve. My advice would be go for what you want and trust yourself. Even if you don't get there, you'll still be among the stars. We get imposter syndrome and instead of trying it out we just get scared and not even try. When you don't land where you want, you're still one step ahead.
