About Marilynn
Marilynn Williams Fair spent more than four decades building a respected career in the telecommunications industry, culminating in her role as Director of Corporate Compliance at AT&T Corporation. In that capacity, she led a team of six professionals responsible for interpreting and applying complex regulatory requirements, with particular attention to billing accuracy and matters affecting the public. Her leadership style throughout her corporate tenure was grounded in integrity, collaboration, and a commitment to high standards, qualities she used not only to guide her team but also to mentor colleagues of all backgrounds.
Following her retirement from the corporate world, Dr. Fair pursued and completed a Doctorate in Education, deepening her academic credentials through study in Organizational Leadership at Grand Canyon University, building on an earlier Master of Arts in Business from Dallas Baptist University. This academic pursuit reflected her ongoing dedication to growth and her desire to translate decades of professional insight into structured knowledge she could pass on to others. Her post-retirement focus shifted toward community, faith, and educational leadership, areas where she now applies the same discipline and drive that defined her corporate career.
Today, Dr. Fair remains deeply engaged in service and mentorship. She serves as a deaconess at her local church and helps lead its annual women's conference, an event that draws thousands of participants from around the world. She also contributes her governance expertise as Secretary-Treasurer on the Executive Committee of the Foster College Board of Directors. Looking ahead, she intends to broaden her influence by organizing leadership summits and delivering keynote addresses, continuing her lifelong mission of mentoring others — particularly women — toward confidence, resilience, and purposeful leadership.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the way I was raised, particularly by my mother, who was a determined woman who taught me to work hard and always do things the right way. Beyond that foundation, my resiliency and perseverance have carried me through, alongside the values and faith that continue to guide every decision I make.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to first understand who you truly are and to trust that you are capable of achieving what you set out to do. Don't let others define your limits for you — moving up requires resiliency, and you must believe in yourself and in your ability to pursue whatever it is your heart is set on.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I see is breaking through the glass ceiling, an obstacle that remains especially difficult for women, and Black women in particular, who aspire to leadership positions. Too often, men are still viewed as the natural choice for leadership roles, which makes it harder for women to break through that barrier.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, compassion, excellence, and faith are the values I hold most important, both in my professional life and in how I carry myself personally.
