What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work and dedication to my patients and the field of medicine. Being a clinical pharmacist is demanding, and I take pride in ensuring that my patients receive accurate dosages safely and effectively. I also credit my four children for motivating me every day—I started out bagging groceries at 15 and worked my way through school as a single mom, learning the value of perseverance and determination along the way.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to believe in yourself—when you do, you become unstoppable.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering the pharmacy field that there is so much more to this profession than retail work. Having experience in long-term care and specialty pharmacy has shown me the breadth and impact of what pharmacists can do, and I encourage them to explore all areas of the field to find where they can make the greatest difference.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is balancing the high demands of pharmacy work with personal responsibilities. Striving to give 110% both at work and at home with my children pushes me to be organized, resilient, and intentional in everything I do.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are going the extra mile for my patients to ensure their safety and well-being, being a devoted and supportive mother to my children, and making time for myself to recharge—whether that’s through enjoying abstract art or other personal pursuits that bring me joy.
