Marina Mochkina, LEED AP, is a Senior Occupancy Planner at JLL, where she brings over a decade of expertise in architecture, project management, and workplace strategy. Based in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, Marina leads complex client-facing real estate projects, overseeing space planning, relocations, and move management for large-scale corporate environments. She is recognized for her ability to streamline processes, optimize resources, and deliver business-critical projects with efficiency and precision.
Marina began her career in architecture, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design from North Carolina State University and a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has held positions at leading firms including PGN Architects, Studios Architecture, and CBRE, where she managed both commercial and residential projects, facilitated LEED-certified building initiatives, and developed strategic occupancy plans for organizations of varying sizes. Her work consistently emphasizes sustainable design, operational efficiency, and occupant-focused solutions.
A LEED Accredited Professional, Marina is fluent in English and Russian and actively contributes to the U.S. Green Building Council. She is known not only for her technical skills in Revit, SketchUp, and project management but also for her collaborative approach to client and stakeholder engagement. I would advise young women entering my industry to always respect themselves and never allow anyone to mistreat them.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my field was navigating the uncertainties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, a key opportunity during that time was having stable employment, which allowed me to continue growing professionally despite the broader disruptions.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are transparency and a sense of humor.
