Ten minutes with Marinella
01What do you attribute your success to?
I’ve had solid mentoring from other professionals who saw my potential as well as immense support and motivation from my family.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
”Keep it simple”
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering the hospitality industry to lead with heart. Success in this field requires genuine care not only for guests and customers, but also for colleagues, supervisors, and those you manage. Strong people skills are essential. If someone struggles to work with people, this may not be the right environment for them. The work requires empathy, patience, problem-solving, and the ability to understand that every person brings a unique perspective and experience. Treating others with respect and compassion is at the core of this profession.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in hospitality and fast food is that employees are often undervalued, despite the dedication, effort, and pride they bring to their work every day. The emotional labor and commitment involved are not always fully recognized.
At the same time, there are significant opportunities for growth within the industry. There is strong potential for advancement, especially when organizations prioritize soft skills such as communication, empathy, and teamwork in their hiring and development practices. Many individuals begin their careers as teenagers and, through dedication and hard work, grow into leadership, training, and management roles.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Respect, compassion, resilience, humility, but most of all believing in everything you do through Faith.
