Her Interview
Ten minutes with Marisela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work and a strong work ethic instilled by my parents who taught me that nothing would just fall into my lap and I would have to work hard for it. My loyalty of 18 years with the company also reflects this.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't give up on who you are. And always reach out to those around you, because it's not always what you know, it's who you know. The relationships I have built throughout the years have elevated me in many ways.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Work hard. Don't let anybody tell you no. You can do this. We were made for such a time as this and our moment is here. We have to find where we can leave that little sparkle wherever we can.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are a lot of women fighting for positions in the events world since not a lot of men are in it. Positions don't come along often so when you get your foot in the door you have to work hard to stay there because someone else could come and do better.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My faith in God is most important to me. That has gotten me to where I am today. There is so much evil in the world and we really need the Lord in our lives for a refresh.
