About Marivic
I've been a flight attendant for 4 years, and it's been quite a journey. Before aviation, I worked in insurance for about 5 years with one of the largest insurance companies in the country. During COVID, I was working from home in Madison, Wisconsin, where I had just bought my first house completely on my own. I've always loved to travel and had always tried to incorporate travel into whatever I was doing, whether that was insurance, PR, or marketing. When the pandemic hit, I just wanted something different - we were all bored out of our minds. I initially looked at boat jobs because I wanted to work on the water, but turns out you needed experience for those. I ended up in a rabbit hole of industries and applied to be a flight attendant. At the time, I had no idea what regional was or how any of that worked. I just decided to accept the interview and keep going until there was a decision to be made. About 6-7 months into flying, on my first layover in LaGuardia, I met Michael, who had just bought a house in Key West. My kids are all grown and out of the house now, so I had my oldest daughter rent my house in Madison, and I moved to Key West. I'm a DC-based flight attendant, so all my trips start and end in DC. I try to stack my trips so I'm off for 2 weeks and then on for 2 weeks. In my spare time, I do AI data annotation work, which is a good side gig for flight attendants because you can do it from anywhere at any time. I'm also enrolled in NYU's Modern Journalism course. I have my FAA certification and have about 4-5 more years before I have to decide if I want to retire from flying.
