About Markita
Markita Smith is a leadership, business, and community development professional with more than 25 years of experience as a business consultant, entrepreneur, Class A contractor, and ministry leader. She grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and began working in family businesses at a young age, later working as an insurance underwriter and accepting a consulting role at what was then the largest consulting firm before shifting paths to start a family. In 2017 she founded Kingdom Wealth, her coaching firm with the motto of creating wealth to do the most good, and in 2024 she started the Impact Healing Movement as part of that work. Through these ventures she coaches clients across industries and legal structures on vision development, business scaling, and integrating AI solutions into their operations to free up time for leadership growth and community impact. She has also led a construction company that supported her nonprofit ministry work for 25 years, and she is actively involved in establishing congregations and planning to build a school in Kenya to serve orphans and the broader community. Markita attributes her success to God and emphasizes the importance of spiritual grounding to navigate the challenges of life and business.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would definitely say God. That people should include spirituality in what we do, because it's hard. Life is hard, business is harder. And if you don't have some type of spiritual grounding to deal with, the emotions that come up, interpersonal challenges between people, to pause and reflect on yourself, reflect on situations, something that anchors you when you're being stretched.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell her that initially, she's going to have to do double duty. She needs to get her life and her heart prepared for that. Meaning, if she's working for someone now, however, she's earning income. She's gonna have to keep doing that. And while she's doing that, she's gonna have to birth her business. It's challenging to do both. So, it's important that the important relationships in her life realize that that was gonna happen in the next season. It's important that she gets her finances in order, so making sure that she's getting out of debt, and saving money, developing a mindset that focuses on giving her best for her business.
