About Marla
Marla Stough is a senior creative and brand leader with over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. She began her career as a graphic designer and progressed to executive creative director positions. In 2024, she founded Coven Creative, her one-person consultancy, where she serves as Creative Director and Founder, working with small businesses and entrepreneurs in CPG, beauty, health and wellness, doctors' offices, and food and beverage. She holds a BFA in graphic design with a minor in art history from the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York, and a master's degree in branding from the School of Visual Arts in New York, from which she graduated in 2012 as part of the second class of the program. Marla is a member of the Cosmetic Executive Women Association and the Hoboken Entrepreneur association. She values honesty and transparency in her work, striving to demystify the creative process for clients and lead with kindness, empathy, and compassion.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and transparency are most important to me. I try to be forthright when I'm working with people and want to demystify the creative process so clients feel part of it. When issues come up, just be honest because covering it up makes it worse. I lead with kindness, empathy, and compassion, believing you get the best from people when aligned on the approach rather than adversarial relationships.
