Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I believe success begins with taking ownership of our own growth, while also recognizing the impact of the people and communities around us. Growing up with challenges taught me not to let circumstances define me, and I’ve continually pushed myself—currently pursuing my fourth degree and engaging in leadership opportunities that align with my values. For me, success isn’t just personal; it’s about creating positive experiences for others and using my growth to uplift and empower those around me.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to take ownership of your path and advocate for yourself. I’ve learned that growth requires both self-awareness and the courage to step forward, even when circumstances are challenging.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to never lose sight of what truly matters. As you grow and achieve success, remain humble and grateful for the journey and the people who supported you along the way. Equally important, be your own strongest advocate. I grew up facing challenges, and had I let my circumstances define me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. We each hold the key to our own success, whatever that looks like.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A key challenge in education finance in my geographical location is balancing rapid growth with responsible financial management, particularly when overseeing large-scale projects without creating long-term debt and a short-fall in funding for many programs that are critical to greater student success. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity to implement innovative strategies—like pay-as-you-go models and other innovative cost saving initiatives—that promote sustainability and lasting community impact. As I transition into the private sector, I see even greater opportunities to apply these skills in new and meaningful ways.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is at the core of my values, alongside community and effective communication. I’ve learned that true communication goes beyond just speaking—it’s about understanding and acting in the best interest of the greater good. This mindset has guided me in decisions impacting thousands of children and informs how I approach both work and life. I believe that prioritizing the collective good, while still investing in ourselves, allows us to uplift others and create meaningful, lasting impact.
