About Marlee
I am a community engagement and volunteer services professional with over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, volunteer coordination, and community empowerment, currently serving as Director of Volunteer Services for the City of Oxford, Mississippi, a role I have held since October 2022, where I lead volunteer recruitment, training, and engagement initiatives that strengthen community connections and support local organizations.
Prior to this role, I served as a Volunteer Representative at AmeriCorps for over five years, where I recruited, trained, and matched hundreds of qualified volunteers with forty nonprofit organizations, created service opportunities for community volunteers and AmeriCorps Senior volunteers, planned volunteer recognitions, and coordinated Days of Service with community partners. I also served as Co-Director for Leisure Lifestyles at the City of Oxford Park Commission for over two years, where I planned and coordinated daily programs, applied for grants and scholarships, and managed responsibilities for interns and volunteers.
Earlier in my career, I served as Outdoor Educator at the YMCA for six months, where I delegated responsibility to a staff of twenty, approved and provided daily activities for children, and planned workshops and team trainings for staff. I also spent nearly four years at Woodmen of the World, where I served as Assistant Camp Director for nearly two years, training and managing staff by ACA guidelines, coordinating educational and healthy activities, creating weekly activity schedules, and preparing parent packets for opening day, and as Youth Camp Health Supervisor for over two years, where I assisted with CPR, first aid, and lifeguard training, managed health logs and medical supplies, issued medication to youth and staff, treated emergency and minor care, and resolved emotional conflicts.
Across my career in community engagement, volunteer services, and youth development, my work has been driven by a commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities through service and connection. Whether I am recruiting volunteers, coordinating community programs, or leading camp staff, I bring a collaborative approach, strong organizational skills, and a dedication to creating positive experiences that build lasting impact. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue serving my community through my work with the City of Oxford.
