Aspen Ulmer, AAS, NRP, is an accomplished Industrial Rescue and Safety Specialist and the founder of Fighting Gravity Rescue Dynamics, a company dedicated to providing expert rescue, safety, and emergency response services across industrial environments. With extensive experience in high-risk operations, confined space rescues, and trauma response, Aspen has established herself as a leader committed to protecting workers and teams in critical situations. Her expertise includes industrial fire and barge training, technical rescue, and comprehensive trauma management, ensuring readiness for the most complex emergencies.
Aspen earned her Associate of Science in Paramedicine from Jones County Junior College and is a certified National Registered Paramedic (NRP). She has held key leadership roles including Director of Training and Rescue Operations and Rescue/Medical Team Manager, overseeing on-site emergency response, safety compliance, and hands-on training programs. Her training programs cover rescue disciplines, trauma care, confined space operations, lockout/tagout LOTO, fire extinguisher use, CPR, and Stop the Bleed courses, equipping industrial teams with the skills to respond effectively in emergencies.

I attribute my success to my dedication as a paramedicine and rescue specialist, driven by a commitment to helping others in times of tragedy and disaster. My focus on providing immediate, life-saving assistance and support during critical moments has shaped my professional growth and reinforced my passion for serving communities in need. Through every challenging situation, I have cultivated resilience, skill, and compassion, which I consider the foundation of my success in this field.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering this industry to prioritize personal accountability and integrity in everything they do. Taking responsibility for your actions, making ethical decisions, and maintaining honesty and transparency not only builds trust with colleagues and the communities you serve but also lays a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now has been starting my own business. Since establishing my LLC in 2021, I’ve been focused on promoting and growing my brand, which allows me to create meaningful impact while building independence and leadership in the industry. At the same time, navigating business development, marketing, and client acquisition presents ongoing challenges that require adaptability, strategic thinking, and perseverance.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are dedication, responsibility, and excellence particularly in the areas of rescue operations management and training. I am committed to ensuring the highest standards in every operation and in preparing others through thorough, effective training. Integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to helping others guide my decisions and actions, both on the job and in everyday life.
