Her Interview

Ten minutes with Marlenne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a genuine passion for the work and a deep commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for others. My purpose has always been to help pave the way for future generations, particularly within the Latino community, by leading with integrity, perseverance, and a dedication to making a lasting impact. Staying focused on this mission has inspired me to overcome challenges, continue growing professionally, and contribute to building a stronger, more inclusive future.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to always trust my intuition. While experience, data, and guidance from others are valuable, listening to my instincts has helped me make confident decisions, navigate challenges, and remain true to my values throughout my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Trust your intuition and believe in your abilities. Surround yourself with a strong, supportive community of mentors, colleagues, and peers who will encourage your growth and help you navigate challenges. Building meaningful relationships and staying confident in your values will provide the resilience and support needed to succeed in the industry.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the field is the persistent gender pay gap and the continued bias that can lead to women's leadership abilities being questioned. Qualities such as empathy are sometimes mistakenly viewed as weaknesses rather than strengths, despite being essential for effective decision-making, collaboration, and leadership. The opportunity lies in continuing to challenge these outdated perceptions, advocate for greater equity, and demonstrate that empathy and strong leadership are complementary qualities that drive better outcomes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life begin with family. The unwavering support of my family has been the foundation of my personal and professional journey, providing strength, encouragement, and perspective through every challenge. That support inspires me to lead with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive impact on those around me.
