Her Story
About Marrissa
Marrissa Dick serves as a professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in the Department of Liberal Studies. In this role, she teaches undergraduate students in cultural studies and liberal studies courses while providing academic advisement for Aggies at the Gold Line, a program supporting non-traditional students returning to academia after extended absences. Dick draws from her own experience as a returning student to connect with these learners. Her passion for writing stems from personal reflections on marriage, intimacy, and representation in romance literature. Growing up with Harlequin novels, she began crafting stories featuring African American characters and incorporating Christian themes of forgiveness, spiritual warfare, and the struggles of the flesh. As CEO of Nubian Romance Novels, she has published six books in the African American contemporary Christian sci-fi romance genre, with sequels forthcoming, including Angel Fire Part 2. Her works explore love, redemption, and the battle between good and evil, available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and her website. Dick earned her Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration from Shaw University, her Master's in Adult Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and her PhD in Educational Studies with a concentration in cultural World Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
