Her Story
About Marta
Marta Dossena is an experienced construction document management professional currently serving as Document Manager at Burr Computer Environments, Inc. (BCEI), a company specializing in data center environments, a position she assumed in June 2026. Beginning her career in construction in 2018, she developed extensive experience as a document controller, supporting complex hyperscale data center projects across Italy, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Although she earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Western Michigan University, Marta discovered her aptitude for technical documentation, data collection, and project coordination, leading her to pursue a career in construction. Her international experience has equipped her with a strong understanding of documentation requirements and the importance of maintaining accurate, organized records in fast-paced project environments.
In her current role, Marta oversees construction documentation and supports quality and commissioning processes, including commissioning trackers, data distribution, issue management, checklist management, and quality coordination. She works with project drawings, technical submittals, specifications, and other essential records, helping ensure that documentation is organized, compliant with company standards, and accessible to the appropriate project teams. Skilled in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) Forma, BIM 360, Procore, Viewpoint for Projects, and other document management platforms, she brings a detail-oriented and systematic approach to her responsibilities. Marta prioritizes organization, efficiency, and streamlining processes, continually seeking ways to simplify workflows and improve project coordination. She credits her mother, whose determination, organizational abilities, and achievements as an executive have inspired her professional development, as a significant influence on her success.
As Marta continues to advance her career, she is eager to expand her expertise in the growing data center construction industry and take on greater leadership responsibilities. She hopes to eventually oversee document management for all U.S. data center projects within her organization. While adapting to unfamiliar technical terminology and complex project requirements has presented challenges, she views continuous learning, asking questions, and embracing new opportunities as essential to professional growth. Her experience working across international markets has also strengthened her adaptability and broadened her perspective on construction project coordination. Through her commitment to organization, collaboration, and continuous improvement, Marta aims to contribute to successful project delivery while building connections with other women in construction and related technical fields.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Marta
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success entirely to my mother, who put herself through college and became a highly accomplished executive. Her drive and determination inspired me to pursue greater success in my own career, while her strong organizational skills also influenced the way I approach my work.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I would give is to remain open to unexpected opportunities, embrace new challenges, and be willing to learn as you go. Ask questions when something is unclear, stay curious, and continue building your knowledge. You do not need to have all the answers or experience to succeed; confidence, adaptability, and a willingness to learn can help you thrive in an entirely new field.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to embrace opportunities without fear, even when you feel uncertain. I started out scared, but I learned that growth comes from showing up, asking questions, and learning something new every day. Do not be afraid to make mistakes or fall along the way; get back up, keep moving forward, and trust yourself to grow through every experience.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of my biggest challenges was stepping into a role without fully understanding its technical aspects, which required me to learn while doing the job. However, the rapid global expansion of data centers presents tremendous opportunities for growth and career development. Although adapting to the technical demands was challenging, the experience also allowed me to travel extensively and explore different parts of the world in a relatively short time.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Organization, efficiency, and simplicity are the values I prioritize in both my professional and personal life. I naturally look for ways to streamline processes, improve productivity, and make tasks easier to manage. Whether at work or in my daily routine, I believe in finding practical ways to simplify things and create more efficient, organized systems.
