About Martha
My journey into financial services wasn't what I originally planned. My goal was to become a Secret Service agent. I went to school and got my bachelor's and master's in a business degree with a minor in criminal justice, and I was doing a political science class as an internship at the jail in Superior Court. I was fascinated by the work, but I didn't get hired because they had me classified as a Mexican gangbanger from the south side just because I would wear my university hat when leaving the college to go to the internship. After fighting discrimination and filing lawsuits, including an EEOC complaint and a letter right to sue, I gave up my criminal justice field. That's how I ended up in sales. I settled on some money, but my attorney screwed me with a structured annuity settlement. When I called to get my money because I needed to buy my mom a house, there were only 7 days left before it locked in, and he never picked up the phone. He probably made some commission, and my money was locked. That experience taught me about finances and drove my passion to teach people to leverage their money. Now I have multiple businesses: I've been doing insurance since December 2003 with Martha Dabdoub Insurance, I've been in real estate since July 2019 and now I'm a broker, and I've been a lender for about 2 years. I let people know, let me pre-qualify you and take you home shopping and protect your home, disclosing everything. I'm also a host for the American Dream TV show that airs on HGTV, Travel Channel, and other networks where I highlight real estate, culture, and lifestyle. I'm currently getting my certification with Jay Shetty to become a business and life coach. I'm moving into a new office with an attorney, and we're getting ready to start a property management company called LeaseLink. I'm also getting ready to become a private investigator. God works in mysterious ways and connected me with a pastor who wants to help with leveraging money. I tell God to use me, bring me to positive people, put me in front of people who need to see you, and I've made a difference in a lot of people. That's my passion.

Ten minutes with Martha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being spiritually connected first. I gave up doing it as a Leo and I just do it God's way now. I don't worry anymore. I got on my knees last year and said, okay, I'm tired, I can't do it my way, I'll do it your way. I pray every morning and I work out because you have to have a routine. That's how I carry myself and work out so that I'm balanced throughout the whole day. I tell God to use me, bring me to positive people, put me in front of people who need to see you. He gives me the signs and I've made a difference in a lot of people. At this point, being confident and spiritually connected is key, and knowing that from every fall, there's always going to be a learned lesson for the positive. No matter how bad it is at the time, when we start doing that and we learn something from it to do something differently, then that is the whole lecture of the downfall, bringing us to a very positive outcome or future endeavor that is waiting. If we hadn't gone through that, then we wouldn't have known how we could have handled it differently.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Not to fear anything. I think first they have to be aware, aware of where they're at. They have to have that self-awareness and have to have the goals that they want to accomplish, and create a plan to get there and a vision. I did the Proverbs and Solomon, right? He chose wisdom over riches, to have the wisdom to do it how God wants us to do it. You plant the seed, put the time in, water it, have the patience, these are all virtues, and then reap the harvest. If people can learn to do that, then they can do anything. Even though we can't do everything all at the same time, one thing at a time, but nothing's impossible. For somebody who cannot multitask, my advice is gonna be single-task, but you have to step up. It's about being confident and understanding that we need to fall to get up, to learn, and to move forward. That's how we learn. If we don't fall, then we never learn.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think for me, at this point, being confident and spiritually connected is most important, and knowing that from every fall, there's always going to be a learned lesson for the positive. No matter how bad it is at the time, we can't comprehend or break it apart, but when we start doing that and we learn something from it to do something differently, then that is the whole lecture of the downfall, bringing us to a very positive outcome or future endeavor that is waiting. If we hadn't gone through that, then we wouldn't have known how we could have handled it differently. It's about not being content, learning from it, letting it go, and moving forward. Family is very important to me. I have my mother with me. I love challenging my children and empowering them. Since they were in kindergarten, I would ask them who are we praying for, what are we thankful for, don't do something Jesus wouldn't do, if somebody falls pick them up. I raised them almost by myself, and if they had a problem, they needed to come with 3 solutions and pick one.
