About Martha

Martha Frame serves as a Business Services Specialist, functioning as a commercial loan assistant at a credit union in Charlotte, North Carolina. In this role for the past three years, she handles the front-end due diligence for loans by coordinating with lenders, attorneys, appraisers, title companies, and insurance providers to prepare loans for closing. With roughly 25 years in the banking industry, Frame began her career as a floating teller and advanced to branch manager and assistant vice president in commercial lending, including seven years at Scottish Bank where she helped open two local banks and later assisted in starting another bank from scratch. She excels in communication and coordination among multiple parties involved in loan processing, as well as maintaining strong attention to detail when reviewing title policies, appraisals, and loan-to-value requirements. Frame credits her professional achievements to a lifelong determination to give her best effort every day, a trait she developed from a young age. She advises young women entering banking to pursue any goal without self-doubt, remain confident, and demonstrate their value in a field that is no longer dominated by men.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Martha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have always been super determined from a very young age. My father would say that I was hard-headed, but that it served me well. Anything I set my mind to do, I always wanted to be the best at whatever it is that I'm doing, and give it 100%. Some days you don't feel like giving it 100%, but my goal is to do it 100% every day. At the end of the day, when I come home from work, I can be like, I had the best day because I did the best I could.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You can do anything you want to do. Just don't second-guess yourself, be confident, and show your worth. It's not a man's world anymore.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In banking it's a cutthroat business, extremely competitive market with intense sales goals and pressure to sell. At credit unions it's more relaxed but still competitive. Opportunities include meeting new people, hearing their stories, and helping them reach their goals like opening businesses.
