Her Story

About Martha

Martha Leon is an ECE teacher with Denver Public Schools, where she has worked since January and participates in the senior leadership team. With over 27 years in education, she began tutoring neighbors as a young person in Mexico, which inspired her path to becoming a teacher focused on student success and family partnerships. Leon earned a college degree followed by a master's degree in education and became a specialist in teacher intervention. She is an IB International Baccalaureate Trainer and a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Her notable achievements include receiving a district award for teaching strategies, classroom management, and environment, as well as founding Paida Gogos, a tutoring organization that supports students and families outside the classroom with a team of about 12 teachers. Leon attributes her success to inspiring other teachers to foster good citizenship and world citizenship in students through education. She advises young women entering the field to recognize the crucial mission of coaching lives beyond the classroom, to model commitment, and to act with care in all interactions.
