About Martha
Martha Meyer is a children's library services professional with 23 years of experience supporting children and families in public library settings. She serves as Library Assistant at Evanston Public Library, where she works with children as a children's librarian. Meyer founded the Blueberry Award in 2021, which recognizes the best nature and climate books for children ages 3 to 10 and older, awarding about 40 titles annually. She leads the award committee, which includes librarians, scientists, and nature experts, and has presented on the award and its anti-climate anxiety criteria at the American Library Association. Meyer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Northwestern University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She also earned a Certificate in Direct Marketing from DePaul University and a Certificate in Nature Contemplation and Creation Care from Deep Green Faith. She is a member of the Association of Library Service to Children and the Sustainability Round Table of the American Library Association. In addition to her professional work, Meyer serves on her church's green team, the Interfaith Action Climate and Climate Justice Subcommittee, and as a healing minister at an Episcopal church.
