About Martha
Martha Silva serves as a key team member at SYL Roofing Supply's Winter Garden, Florida branch, handling operations, sales support, digital and traditional marketing, and customer experience initiatives including rewards programs and vendor relations. In addition to her professional roles, she volunteers by offering free English classes and has provided translation services in her home country around 2018-2019. Her approach emphasizes building long-term customer relationships beyond transactions and executing well-planned strategies, advice she extends to young women entering the field by encouraging them to identify strong reasons, develop plans, and follow through.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Martha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to discipline and loving what I do. My dad taught me discipline in everything, like getting up on time and being responsible. Recognition comes with results, and being results-oriented drives me. Learning to like what you do makes you successful, whether it's this job or cleaning a house.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice is to have discipline in everything you do. Have a structure, get up at a specific time, be responsible, and plan ahead so you're not running late. Discipline makes your day better even if not perfect.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Ask yourself why you want to be in this industry and if it's the right fit. Have strong reasons and a plan, then execute that plan. Project yourself into the future and know how to execute your ideas rather than just having them in a folder.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are global economic struggles impacting businesses, pricing competition, and staffing issues where it's hard to find responsible and committed workers. The opportunity is building long-term customer relationships by helping with challenges beyond just transactions.
