Her Interview

Ten minutes with Martina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the lessons my father instilled in me-he taught me that nothing is handed to you and that hard work is essential to achieving your goals. I have earned two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree, which have prepared me to excel in my career. I am passionate about working in healthcare technology, and I find great fulfillment in helping others through my work.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is from my mother who was a health information technology professional-no one can take your education away from you. Knowledge and learning are your most valuable tools, and protecting and investing in them can open doors throughout your career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be flexible and open to opportunities as they present themselves in your career. Try new things and technologies to see which work for you. Listen with an empathetic ear and be sure it is more often than you speak. Try to view situations from multiple sides, not just from your personal perspective. Learn about different cultures, religions, or anything that will give you are broader view.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, compassion, and loyalty. I also have a deep love for my pets, which reflects my commitment to care and responsibility in all areas of life.
