Her Story

About Marwa

I entered life sciences by chance during COVID, looking for job opportunities with more flexibility than government work while wanting to use my public health degree. I had studied epidemiology and was interested in doing something involving statistics and data manipulation, so life sciences was a natural next step. Throughout my career, I've worked in local government, public healthcare, non-profits, and government contracting, with a consistent focus on research and analytics. Right out of college, I did broader administrative and social services work, then shifted gears into research and analysis as my primary focus, which landed me in life sciences. I recently graduated from law school, which opens a new chapter for me. I hope to bring the two fields together, though I haven't figured out how just yet. I've always been very focused on making sure that any move I made would position me to have greater opportunity later on. I think struggling to find a job right after college instilled in me that you can't take it for granted. You have to really work to make sure you're making good choices, getting into the right field, making the right connections, and establishing a reputation for being hardworking, present, responsive, and courteous. All of these things make a really big difference in a professional environment.

01What do you attribute your success to?

What I'm really proud of is being resilient and persistent in setting goals and being able to pursue them. I've kind of had my finger on the pulse and adapted to whatever I knew was important while still maintaining my sanity and doing things that I cared about. As much as I've hopped around in different positions, I'm still doing work that I believe in and working with people I believe in. I think struggling as much as I did right when I graduated college to find a job instilled in me that you can't take it for granted. You have to really work to make sure you're making good choices, getting into the right field, making the right connections, and establishing a reputation for being hardworking, present, responsive, and courteous. All of these things make a really big difference in a professional environment. I've always been very focused on making sure that any move I made was going to position me to be able to have greater opportunity later on.
