About Mary Ann
Mary Ann Heinzeroth is a compassionate and accomplished service, sales, and management professional with more than 25 years of experience leading teams, developing customer relationships, and creating service-focused environments across the retail, restaurant, property management, and memorial services industries. She currently serves as a Family Service Counselor with Everstory Partners, where she works closely with individuals and families to plan burials and funerals and navigate pre-need arrangements, including the selection of memorial markers and other services. Recognizing that these decisions are often made during some of life’s most difficult moments, Heinzeroth brings a thoughtful, empathetic, and personalized approach to her work. Her extensive leadership background has strengthened her abilities in communication, coaching, customer service, sales, budgeting, and problem-solving, while her commitment to helping others remains at the center of her professional philosophy.
Alongside her career, Heinzeroth is developing Rooted in Light Collective, a purpose-driven platform focused on supporting women as they navigate grief, loss, change, and significant life transitions. The initiative reflects her belief that healing and personal growth can take many forms and that creative expression can provide meaningful opportunities for reflection and self-discovery. Through journaling, art, storytelling, and other creative outlets, Rooted in Light Collective seeks to encourage women to acknowledge their experiences, process difficult emotions, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their journeys. Heinzeroth hopes to build a community where women can openly explore the realities of loss while discovering resilience, renewed perspective, and pathways toward a more purposeful future.
Heinzeroth’s approach to both her professional and personal endeavors is grounded in faith, trust in God, and a strong commitment to meaningful relationships. She believes that surrounding herself with supportive individuals who share positive values creates a foundation for growth, accountability, and encouragement. Respect, loyalty, forgiveness, love, compassion, attentive listening, and openness are principles that guide the way she communicates, leads, and serves others. Her career reflects a consistent dedication to empowering people, whether she is supporting a family through memorial planning, developing and mentoring teams, or creating a platform for women experiencing life’s transitions. Through Rooted in Light Collective and her continued professional work, Heinzeroth is building upon her lifelong commitment to service with the goal of helping others feel seen, supported, and capable of finding light and meaning even through challenging seasons.

Ten minutes with Mary Ann
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success first and foremost to my faith and trust in God, which provide me with strength, purpose, and perspective throughout every stage of my journey. I also believe that the people I surround myself with have a significant influence on my growth, which is why I value relationships with individuals who share principles such as integrity, compassion, loyalty, and respect. Equally important is my commitment to continual self-reflection and personal growth. I am always seeking new ways to understand my experiences, process my emotions, and learn from life’s challenges. This combination of faith, supportive relationships, self-awareness, and a willingness to grow has helped me navigate change with resilience and continue moving forward with purpose.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to lead with compassion while also learning how to protect your own emotional well-being. Supporting families through difficult and deeply personal moments requires empathy, care, and genuine understanding, but it is equally important to establish healthy emotional boundaries so that the experiences of others do not become overwhelming. Develop a strong sense of who you are, stay grounded in your values, and cultivate a source of strength outside of your work. For me, my faith, connection to God, and involvement in church provide an important foundation and outlet for processing the emotions that come with serving others. Most importantly, remember that caring deeply for people does not mean carrying their pain with you; protect your emotional health so you can continue to serve others with compassion, clarity, and resilience.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are respect, loyalty, forgiveness, love, compassion, active listening, and openness. I believe respect and loyalty are the foundation of meaningful relationships, while forgiveness allows us to grow, learn, and move forward without being defined by past experiences. I strive to approach others with genuine care and empathy, taking the time to listen and understand different perspectives before responding. Openness is equally important because it creates an environment where people feel comfortable being authentic, sharing their experiences, and building trust. These values guide how I lead, serve, communicate, and connect with others, and they help me remain grounded in what matters most.
