Her Interview
Ten minutes with Mary
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from consistency, adaptability, and caring deeply about the people and responsibilities entrusted to me. In trucking and compliance, things are constantly evolving, and I’ve learned that staying proactive, solution-oriented, and open to learning is essential. I’ve been fortunate to work with strong teams that value collaboration and accountability.
A big part of what drives me personally is my kids. They motivate me to keep pushing and to build something better for them than what I had. That combination of personal motivation and professional commitment is what continues to shape my success every day.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was to “never stop learning.” Early in my career, I realized that growth comes from being willing to ask questions, step outside your comfort zone, and continuously improve your skills. That mindset has helped me navigate challenges, take on leadership opportunities, and remain adaptable in an industry that is constantly evolving.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For young women entering the trucking and transportation industry, my advice would be to believe in your abilities and not be intimidated by traditionally male-dominated environments. There is tremendous opportunity in this field for women who are driven, knowledgeable, and willing to lead. Build strong relationships, stay confident in your voice, and never underestimate the value of professionalism, preparation, and resilience. The industry needs diverse perspectives and strong leaders more than ever.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in our industry right now is balancing operational demands with safety, compliance, and driver retention. Regulations continue to evolve, and companies are working to integrate technology while also supporting drivers and maintaining efficiency. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity in using technology proactively to improve safety, streamline compliance processes, and create stronger communication between drivers, operations, and leadership teams. Companies that invest in people, training, and innovation will continue to move the industry forward.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, accountability, family, and continuous growth. I believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching, treating people with respect, and always striving to improve personally and professionally. Family and community are also very important to me, and I try to carry those values into my leadership style by supporting others, encouraging teamwork, and creating an environment built on trust and mutual respect.
