About Mary

Mary Fong, PhD, served as an Assistant Professor in Communication Studies at Cal State University, San Bernardino, beginning in 1992 and continuing for 34 years until her retirement in May. She began her teaching career after earning her undergraduate degree in 1981 by serving as a graduate teaching associate during her master's program, followed by approximately three and a half years of part-time instruction across six or seven campuses in Southern California. In 1989 she entered the PhD program at the University of Washington, completing her doctorate in 1994 while already holding her tenure-track position. Her areas of specialization include culture, intercultural communications, spiritual communication, communicating compassion and love, dying and afterlife communication, and personal growth. She is currently authoring a trilogy of memoirs titled A Magnificent Mess, with the first two volumes, Two Heart Nuts to Crack and A Beautiful Blueprint, already published.
