Ten minutes with Mary

01What do you attribute your success to?

My family has been key to my success. I’ve been surrounded by hard workers my entire life my grandpa, my dad, my mom, and so many others. Watching them show up every day, stay committed, and keep pushing no matter what was the greatest education I could’ve asked for. Their example shaped me into someone who understands not just the value of hard work, but the meaning behind it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My dad has always said, “Scholle’s aren’t quitters,” and that line has stuck with me. It’s a reminder that hard work isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being persistent. It’s about showing up on the days you don’t feel like it, asking questions even when you’re nervous, and doing the little things that build trust over time.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When you’re just starting out, you might not be the most knowledgeable person in the room and that’s completely okay. What you can control is how hard you work. Show up a little early, ask real questions, jot things down, and follow through on what you say you’ll do. Those small habits add up fast. People start to trust you, and that trust becomes your credibility.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My biggest challenge is patience. I’m an impatient person by nature because I like to move fast, make things happen, and see results right away. Waiting for success to unfold hasn’t always been easy for me. In sales, in recruiting, in anything… sometimes you do all the right things and still don’t see the payoff immediately.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Hard work and being a team player are two values that are very important to me. These are not just traits that help you build a career; they’re values that genuinely shape who you are in life.
