About MARY
Mary Snapp is a strategic advisor and speaker based in Seattle, Washington. She graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, earned an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit, and received her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1984. Snapp practiced law for four years in a firm before joining Microsoft, where she spent 37 years, including 25 years as a lawyer and serving as Deputy General Counsel supporting the engineering organization. She was the fourth lawyer hired at Microsoft and the first female lawyer there. After retiring from Microsoft, Snapp has focused on civic engagement and philanthropy, serving on the boards of the National 4-H Council, Feeding America, Farm Foundation, Grand Farm, and the Seattle Art Museum. She emphasizes taking risks and pursuing passions in her career advice.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Take risks. It wasn't in one conversation, it's been sort of throughout my career, as I've considered different opportunities to do different things.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do something you're passionate about. Capitalize on your skills and do something you're excited and passionate about.
