About Mary
Mary Harper is the founder of Mary George Design LLC, where she specializes in the rug business offering fully customized rugs. She began her career as a tax accountant, earning her CPA license and working in that field for nearly 10 years before pursuing her entrepreneurial interests. In 2024, Harper launched a clothing brand that reached retail and wholesale distribution in approximately 40 to 45 boutiques across the United States. After renovating her home and struggling to find suitable rugs, she sourced her own and pivoted her business entirely into custom rug design following strong interest from friends and family. Harper holds a master's degree in accounting and credits much of her professional growth to hands-on experience through the school of hard knocks. She attributes her successes to a lot of prayer and advises others to go with their gut while pursuing long-held dreams.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, a lot of prayer.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say go with your gut, and it's never too late to chase a dream that you've always had.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Finding the right audience, just getting in front of the right audience for what I want my brand to be.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Just being yourself, and doing what you think is right, just trying to do what you can to help anyone.
