About Mary
Mary Walker is an award-winning author based in San Diego, California. She previously had a distinguished legal career that included serving as a partner in several law firms and holding high-level government positions. Her final government role was as Chief Legal Officer for the Department of the Air Force in the Pentagon, where she was the highest-ranking civilian lawyer in the Air Force and served two terms under President Bush. She also served three Republican presidents during her government career. After returning to San Diego during a challenging employment period for lawyers, she began practicing law part-time while developing a new interest in writing historical novels. She eventually transitioned to full-time authorship and has written more than 20 historical novels, many of which have received awards. Walker initially focused on historical love stories before moving into broader historical fiction. She is a member of the Historical Novel Society and maintains a website under her pen name, Reagan Walker, at reaganwalkerauthor.com. Her notable works include the Dawn of America series, which features stories of real people from the Revolutionary War era, including privateers and women contributors, as well as a four-book series set in Scotland about the Lords of the Isles and Clan Donald. In addition to her novels, she includes detailed author's notes on historical context. Walker earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California and her law degree from Boston University after transferring from UCLA for her third year.
