Maryam Kabeer
Maryam Kabeer, Sheikha is an internationally recognized spiritual teacher, author, and world traveler, dedicated to sharing the wisdom of Sufi Masters with seekers across the globe. She is the author of the award-winning memoir "A Journey Through Ten Thousand Veils: The Alchemy of Transformation on the Sufi Path," which chronicles her transformative journey through India, Nepal, Europe, and Africa, and her deep spiritual awakening guided by Sufi teachings. Through her work, Maryam offers guidance, insight, and inspiration to those pursuing spiritual growth and divine connection.
In addition to her literary work, Maryam has been engaged in artistic expression from a young age, including acting, painting, sculpting, and writing. These creative pursuits have complemented her spiritual journey, allowing her to explore self-realization and connect deeply with the divine. She has also dedicated decades to teaching and counseling spiritual seekers, hosting assemblies both in-person and virtually, and supporting individuals in their personal transformation and spiritual development.
Maryam is also a successful entrepreneur, having founded Kashmir Dream: Treasures from the Silk Road, a business offering hand-made tapestries, rugs, shawls, and other artifacts from around the world for over 35 years. Ordained as a Sheikha within the Mourudiyyah and Moutafswiyyah Sufi Orders, she continues to serve as a teacher, counselor, and speaker, committed to sharing divine wisdom, promoting personal growth, and fostering interconnectedness among all people.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a lifelong dedication to growth, learning, and helping others transform their lives. Through my international travels and work as a spiritual teacher, I have gained insights that I share with others to support their personal and spiritual development. Creating handmade goods and engaging deeply in therapy work has allowed me to combine creativity, compassion, and practical guidance, fostering meaningful connections and empowering those I teach to embrace transformation and self-discovery.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you must love the work that comes from within yourself. True fulfillment and success stem from pursuing a career aligned with your passions and values, rather than external expectations. When you engage in work that resonates deeply with your own interests and strengths, it not only fuels motivation and creativity but also allows you to make a meaningful impact in your field.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, creativity, and curiosity are the values that guide both my professional and personal life. I am passionate about exploring the world through international travel, which broadens my perspective and inspires my artistic and writing endeavors. I strive to approach every project and interaction with honesty, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to excellence, while continually seeking opportunities to learn, create, and connect with others across cultures.
