What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the career path I’ve built since beginning my professional journey in 2018, along with my strong educational foundation in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Recently being promoted to Assistant Vice President and Senior Engineer was an exciting milestone that reflects the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my career. I’m also passionate about continuing to grow professionally through Women in Tech organizations and certifications, including Google AI programs, which have helped me expand both my technical knowledge and leadership skills.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is that you can build a successful career in a field you truly love and advance quickly through hard work, consistency, and dedication. That advice has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to motivate me to keep learning and pushing myself professionally.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to believe in their abilities and not be intimidated by entering a technical field. Technology offers incredible opportunities for growth, creativity, and innovation, and it can be an extremely rewarding career path. There is space for women to succeed, lead, and make a meaningful impact in this industry.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Since I’ve only been in my current role for about a month, one of the biggest opportunities for me right now is continuing to learn, grow, and expand my leadership experience. I’m excited about the direction my career is heading and the potential to continue advancing while contributing to meaningful projects and initiatives within the industry.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
One of the values most important to me is giving back to my community. After having my first child, many activities were temporarily put on hold, but I’m now becoming more involved again in outreach and volunteer work. I’m especially passionate about helping address food insecurity, which is why I enjoy volunteering with the Eastern North Carolina Food Bank, where we help sort and distribute packages to families in need. I also value my involvement with the Red Cross. Outside of work, I enjoy reading and baking, which was inspired by my mother, who had a side business baking and decorating cakes. I’ve always appreciated how baking blends creativity with structure and precision, and I believe that balance has influenced the way I approach both problem-solving and innovation in my career.
