Her Story
About Maura
I graduated from SUNY Brockport in New York State with a degree in broadcast journalism and relations. When I was a sophomore in college, I started getting involved in campus media, working at the television station and radio station on campus. I was also vice president of the PR club, and all that networking and involvement in different clubs really led to a lot of success. From the campus radio station, I got an internship at a Christian radio station, and that experience opened doors for me. Now I work for media outlets such as iHeartRadio, where I'm a broadcast producer. I go in for early shifts and late shifts, and some days I have both. I produce people's news shows, and today I produced a 4-hour long news show where we had people from Fox News on air and the mayor of our city. I also broadcast with minor league baseball at nighttime. My political journalism has been a really good experience that has led to a lot of national conferences I've attended and connections with women and Christians. I really just wanted to make an impact in my local community and nationally, which is why I got into media and journalism.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say just going above and beyond. The more you go above and beyond, the more opportunity that you see. Even if you're trying to shoot for something and it doesn't work out, something else will happen if you always go above and beyond.
