She is the founder and sole operator of Wise Custom Crafts, launched in 2021, where she manages all aspects of the business — from production and marketing to billing, documentation, and compliance. Known for her reliability, adaptability, and solutions-focused approach, Maurissa prioritizes integrity, ethical practices, and treating others with respect, values that guide both her professional and personal life.
Maurissa’s professional journey reflects a balance of creativity and leadership. She began as a stay-at-home mom and turned her hobby of making handcrafted gifts into a thriving business, taking custom orders and expanding into unique projects such as workplace uniforms. In addition to her entrepreneurial work, she serves as a Direct Support Professional, providing personalized assistance to clients while demonstrating strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills in fast-paced environments.
Committed to lifelong learning and professional growth, Maurissa earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration in 2017 and recently completed her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to determination and a willingness to turn creativity into action. I was inspired to get into this field because I’ve always been very creative, and my experience as a stay-at-home mom motivated me to build a business that lets me create and make an impact.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to stay present, remember where I am, and focus on what needs to be done today.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering my industry to stand up for what they believe, trust their instincts, and always do what feels right in their heart rather than following the crowd.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is managing every aspect of the business on my own, but it’s also an opportunity to shape it exactly the way I envision.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are delivering quality in everything I do and treating others the way I want to be treated.
