About Mavis

Mavis Wryter has spent about 15 years in the legal industry and began running her own business around 2018. Her work centers on immigration law and family law, where she provides community support and frequently handles pro bono filings for individuals in need. Drawing from her background as the child of first-generation immigrants, Mavis is particularly passionate about assisting immigrants facing legal challenges. In addition to her professional commitments, she balances multiple roles as a mother of three children under ten, supports her husband who serves as a pastor, and contributes to her church through youth ministry, Sunday school teaching, and treasury duties. She runs a young ladies ministry-Girl Arise!, with the aim of empowering, inspiring and elevating young ladies to become the best version of themselves. She recently launched a networking organization aimed at supporting the Ghanaian diaspora, especially young people new to the country. Mavis emphasizes that success in her field requires genuine passion and compassion rather than a focus on financial gain.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to have the passion for it and you have to be very compassionate because you are literally dealing with people that a lot of time they don't have much to offer and they're just simply at a point in their lives where they need legal help. It's not about the money it's simply about having the passion to help out people.
