Her Story

About May

I started out as a graphic designer back in the early 2000s, doing packaging design at agencies for food, beverage, and especially the alcohol industry. I even took a sabbatical and went to Italy for a while, where I got an internship with a packaging print corporate company. Through life experience, I had to reinvent the wheel multiple times, jumping through different industries from food and beverage to telematics to fashion, and now I'm in finance. I realized I could shift my design and advertisement background into the presentation space, figuring out how to come up with decks that speak to everyone. I call it the two-second rule - within two seconds, if you don't understand it, then I failed you. Today, I work with executive leadership and C-suite clients, creating presentation decks for conferences and case studies. I've also built infrastructure and processes for PowerPoint within my current finance company, creating templates to make it easier for everyone and integrating AI to help people turn Word documents into branded PowerPoint presentations. I'm wearing a lot of hats, but the fun thing is I love what I do. My main area of expertise is storytelling - in anything you do in life, you're telling someone a story, whether it's in finance, cars, services, or fashion.

Ten minutes with May

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to family, friends, and the life experiences I've been through. It's really about having that support system and learning from everything life has thrown at me along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is simple: ask for help. It sounds so straightforward, but it's been one of the most important lessons in my career.
