About Maybelline
Maybelline Ramos spent approximately 10 years in the ballroom dance industry, where she taught students of various ages, including retired individuals pursuing long-held dreams, and traveled with them to competitions. She transitioned to serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala as a Youth and Development Program Coordinator. In this role, she works in schools to deliver lesson plans on life skills including self-esteem, conflict resolution, and decision making, and supports after-school clubs and student councils. She also partners with the local town hall to plan events and run prevention programs focused on reducing youth involvement in violence, teen pregnancy, and substance abuse. Maybelline has found fulfillment in building cross-cultural connections and empowering young women through talks that encourage them to value their voices in a society where they have often been expected to remain silent. She plans to complete her service the following November and ultimately hopes to work with a nonprofit organization combating child trafficking or women trafficking.
