Maylynn Menoud

Legal Marketing and Talent Acquisition Director
BAST AMRON LLP
Miami, FL 33186

Maylynn Vargas-Menoud is a legal marketing, business development, and legal recruiting professional with more than 27 years of experience in the legal industry. She began her career in academia at St. Thomas University Law School, working in the Career Services Office before transitioning into private practice with Greenberg Traurig, a global law firm that has grown to more than 3,000 attorneys. There, she started in the recruiting department and played a meaningful role in shaping the South Florida legal market. She later joined Hunton & Williams, continuing to build her expertise in attorney recruiting and law firm operations, ultimately developing a strong foundation in talent strategy, firm culture, and business development within leading national firms.

Following her time in large law firms, Maylynn experienced a pivotal career shift during the 2008 market downturn, transitioning into marketing and business development. With a background in business administration, she expanded her focus to driving firm branding, visibility, and strategic growth. In a notable full-circle moment in her career, she hired one of the founding partners who is now the Managing Partner at Bast Amron LLP, where she has proudly served for more than six years. Her journey reflects both adaptability and long-term industry influence, evolving from recruiting into a broader leadership role centered on growth strategy and brand development.

Today, Maylynn serves as Legal Marketing and Talent Acquisition Director at Bast Amron LLP, an insolvency litigation firm in its 17th year. The firm operates as a lean and highly specialized team, where she works closely with one additional team member to deliver high-impact initiatives in a competitive national legal market. She has been instrumental in building key platforms for the firm, including a podcast that has surpassed 200 episodes and 10,000 downloads over five years, as well as the Business Advantage Forum, now in its 8th year, which convenes business and legal leaders to explore issues shaping decision-making across industries. Through these initiatives, she continues to position Bast Amron on a national stage while fostering meaningful dialogue within the broader business and legal community.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to dedication, perseverance, and a strong goal-driven mindset, along with a willingness to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. I place a high value on being a good listener, which has helped me build strong relationships, understand different perspectives, and make more informed decisions throughout my career. I remain focused, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, which has allowed me to navigate change and achieve long-term professional goals. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy hunting, which reflects my appreciation for patience, discipline, and time spent in nature.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to be proud of myself, to show up with presence, and to know my worth. It is important to stand tall, carry myself with confidence, and not shrink in spaces where I belong. This guidance has reminded me to value my contributions, trust my abilities, and approach every opportunity with self-assurance and professionalism.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be open and honest in every interaction, and never hesitate to ask questions, even when you feel uncertain. Growth comes from curiosity and a willingness to learn, so give yourself permission to not have all the answers right away. Be patient with yourself as you build experience and confidence, and understand that development takes time. Most importantly, keep pushing forward, even when things feel challenging or uncomfortable, because consistency and perseverance will carry you further than perfection.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the ability to continuously enhance Bast Amron’s market presence through innovative marketing, strategic social media engagement, and purposeful content development. The legal industry is becoming increasingly competitive and digital-first, which creates space for firms to differentiate themselves through thought leadership, authentic storytelling, and consistent visibility across multiple platforms. By leveraging these tools effectively, there is a strong opportunity to expand brand awareness, deepen client engagement, and position Bast Amron as a national leader in insolvency litigation while continuing to evolve with the changing expectations of the market.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are being open to learning new things, treating others with kindness and respect, and continuously striving to grow both personally and professionally. I place great importance on being a mentor to others, sharing knowledge and supporting their development, and I genuinely enjoy leading and guiding a team. Above all, I am driven by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the work I do and in the lives of the people I work with.
