Her Story
About Meagan
I'm currently a Senior Accounting Manager at Concentra, an occupational healthcare company, where I've been able to combine my passion for accounting with my interest in the healthcare industry. I oversee the accounting for several of our regions and business units, help manage the month-end close process, and handle field reporting. My career journey has been shaped by about 12 years of professional experience since graduating college. I spent about 8 years working in oil and gas, and when my last company was acquired by ExxonMobil, I saw it as an opportunity to make a strategic shift. Oil and gas can be kind of volatile, and healthcare was something that always interested me from my time in public accounting, where I had several healthcare clients. I decided to dip my toes back into that industry. I'm a licensed CPA and graduated with a 4.0 from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in accounting. While technical expertise is important, what I find most meaningful in my role is having the opportunity to mentor a team of young professionals and help them through their careers. Accounting can be kind of a tough world, and that part of the job is very important to me. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and playing music on guitar and piano.

Ten minutes with Meagan
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family, just giving me the flexibility to be able to do the things that I need to do.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to trust my gut. Sometimes the opportunity that is flashiest is not always the best one. I've learned that what looks most attractive on the surface isn't necessarily the right choice for my career path, and listening to my instincts has helped guide me to make better decisions about which opportunities to pursue.
