Ten minutes with MeCha
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my Christian upbringing, which instilled in me a strong commitment to education and a strong work ethic. I strive to treat others with kindness and respect while consistently delivering quality work accurately and on time.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to approach my work with an open mind, ask questions, and never hesitate to seek guidance from experienced colleagues. I’ve also learned that it’s important to recognize when I’m overwhelmed and give myself permission to step back, reset, and return with a clear mind.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to come in with an open mind and an open heart. Build relationships with your coworkers, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to seek guidance from experienced colleagues. If you ever feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed, it’s okay to step away, regroup, and seek support from those who have been there before.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is supporting students who have experienced trauma, including homelessness and abuse. It requires individualized therapy, flexible schedules, and frequent emergency responses. At the same time, there are opportunities to make a meaningful difference by providing tailored support, while continuing to advocate for the funding and resources needed to meet students’ needs.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My core values are grounded in my faith and the education I received through my Christian upbringing. I strive to always do my best, treat others with kindness and respect, and complete my work with integrity and excellence.
