About Meera
Meera Patel serves as a Senior Product Manager at Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia. Her career in product management began after starting as an analyst at Home Depot, where she transitioned into the field to take on more hands-on decision-making responsibilities focused on user needs. She spent two and a half years building out the Flight Booking Engine to modernize customer booking processes in line with NDC industry standards before moving to her current role at Delta. Patel graduated from Kennesaw State University in December 2019 after completing her studies in three and a half years from 2016 onward. She notes that product management requires curiosity and an open mind to incorporate diverse perspectives for successful user-centered outcomes, and she is incorporating AI tools to enhance prototyping and development speed.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The biggest thing about product management is you have to be curious for your product to be successful. You can't come in with a one-track mind of this is how it's going to be and this is how it's going to get done. You have to have an open mind to everyone's perspective. You may think one thing about how something needs to be done, but your product at the end of the day is for your users, so you have to have an open mind and listen to everybody's opinions and perspectives to actually create a successful product.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
With AI coming out now, our work is changing a little bit. Previously we weren't able to access tools for us to be able to prototype for our team to develop faster, but now that is something we are doing with the use of AI.
