Her Story

About Meg

Meg Walker is the Founder and Owner of Twyned, a directory dedicated to connecting families with providers across fertility, pregnancy, birth, adoption, pregnancy and infant loss, and postpartum care. Based in the Atlanta metropolitan area, Meg began her work as a birth and postpartum doula in 2022, inspired by her own challenging birth and postpartum experiences following the arrival of her third child. These personal experiences gave her a deeper understanding of the difficulties families can face when searching for reliable care and motivated her to create a resource that makes trusted support easier to find. Her mission is to help families connect with qualified professionals while giving providers greater visibility and opportunities to grow their businesses.

Meg established Twyned in late 2025 and launched the directory on July 13th, creating a platform designed to serve families and professionals throughout the reproductive and parenting journey. As Founder and Owner, she focuses on promoting the directory and connecting providers with individuals seeking specialized support. The platform enables professionals to showcase their services, promote their businesses, and sell relevant products.

Meg holds certifications in birth doula care, postpartum doula care, childbirth education, and perinatal nutrition. She also earned an associate's degree in marketing from Chattahoochee Technical College in 2012, providing a foundation for her work in business promotion and provider outreach. Looking ahead, she plans to donate proceeds from the directory to help aspiring doulas and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) pursue their professional training, expanding access to maternal and infant care. She also wants to use some of the money from her directory to open a birth center.

Meg attributes her success to hard work, determination, a passion for helping others, and the encouragement of her husband, who inspires her to pursue opportunities with long-term potential. Honesty, direct communication, and compassion guide her professional and personal life, shaping her commitment to supporting women and families through significant and sometimes challenging experiences. She believes mothers deserve comprehensive postpartum care and advocates for greater access to these services in hospitals and communities. Through Twyned, Meg aims to bridge the gap between families seeking support and the professionals equipped to provide it, while helping build a more connected, accessible, and compassionate network of care for mothers, babies, and families.

Ten minutes with Meg

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, determination, and a genuine passion for what I do. My personal postpartum experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the challenges women face during this important stage of life and have inspired me to help others navigate their own journeys with greater support and confidence. My husband has also been an incredible source of encouragement, motivating me to pursue opportunities that align with my vision and have the potential for long-term growth. Together, these experiences and his unwavering support continue to inspire me to push beyond my comfort zone, follow my passion, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and families.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to stand up for myself and never allow my voice to be drowned out. I believe it is essential to have the confidence to express my ideas, advocate for what I believe in, and ensure that my perspective is heard. This advice has reminded me of the importance of self-advocacy, knowing my worth, and remaining confident in my abilities while pursuing my professional goals.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to never give up on your passion, even when you encounter difficult or emotionally challenging experiences. Supporting women through birth and postpartum can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also take an emotional toll, especially when a birth does not go as hoped. Hold space for the mothers you serve with compassion and care, while also recognizing the importance of protecting your own emotional well-being. Allow yourself time to grieve when necessary, practice self-care, and seek support when you need it. You cannot pour from an empty cup, and caring for yourself is essential to continuing to provide meaningful support to the women and families who depend on you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is ensuring that postpartum care becomes a standard part of the services offered by all hospitals. The postpartum period is a critical time for mothers as they recover physically and emotionally while adjusting to life with a newborn. Expanding access to comprehensive postpartum support would help ensure that more women receive the guidance, resources, and compassionate care they need during this transition. I see a significant opportunity to raise awareness, advocate for more inclusive postpartum services, and work toward a healthcare system in which every mother feels supported, valued, and cared for beyond childbirth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me in both my professional and personal life are honesty, open communication, and compassion. I believe in being straightforward with others and expressing my thoughts and feelings respectfully rather than allowing misunderstandings to develop. Equally important is genuinely caring for people and making sure they feel heard, understood, and supported. In my work, especially when supporting women through birth and postpartum experiences, I strive to lead with empathy, authenticity, and honesty while creating a safe and trusting environment for the individuals and families I serve.
