Her Story

About Megan

I've kind of done it all, to be honest. Being a single mom, you kinda gotta go with the flow of a schedule that will align with your kids. I work a lot with my hands and lean more towards male-dominated industries. I worked for Habitat for Humanity for a few months, learning how to build homes from the ground up. That kind of kicked off my passion because I already do a lot of DIY projects and love flipping furniture. Currently, I am redesigning and painting assisted living homes. I'd love to get my own contractor's license and start my own female-operated business for remodeling. Right now, I'm just wanting to go through the process of getting my license while also learning from other people who are willing to teach me. One of my proudest accomplishments was my position at Fillrite from 2024 to 2025, where I traveled across the U.S. going into places like Tractor Supply and Baumgars, redesigning the planograms for them and doing some sales. That was probably my favorite thing to be in. I also have an associate's degree in education. I love education, but having a son and teaching all day, I'd come home and feel like I had no energy mentally for my own son. That's when I fell in love with sales because I started in real estate as the office administrator, then I got my license. I ended up having to put my license up after I had back surgery for a herniated disc. I couldn't really show homes when I was falling down and couldn't move my right leg. But now it's all good, I had the surgery, it's all better, and I can build a house now.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I really love creating a positive impact in any space that I'm in, just connecting with people. At the end of the day, everybody has their stuff that's going on in their lives, and a lot of us like to bring that with us to the workplace, and it can be really hard to transition into that kind of mindset when you've got a hundred other things going on at once. So just being a positive person for other people when I'm around them and at work is probably my favorite thing to do. I've really gone through it, so I like to try to just be very open-minded to people. Nobody knows what anyone is really going through in their lives, so just being a listening ear, even if it has nothing to do with the job sometimes.
