Her leadership and entrepreneurial spirit are evident in her founding of a Women in Aviation chapter in Texas, which supported 50 new pilots. Megan has also worked in aviation operations, including admissions and student guidance roles at US Aviation Group and cargo coordination at Rickenbacker International Airport, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the industry from both instructional and operational perspectives.

Beyond her professional achievements, Megan is deeply committed to growing the aviation community and promoting diversity in the field. She is an active member of EAA Chapter 9 and Women in Aviation International, raising awareness and inspiring future pilots. Megan is driven by her love for teaching, a dedication to her students’ success, and a mission to make aviation accessible and rewarding. Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my diverse educational and career journey, which began with studying pre-med, transitioned into teaching, and ultimately led me to a career in aviation. Gaining my flight licenses and working with major airlines reinforced the importance of hands-on experience in this field, where practical skills often carry more weight than formal degrees. I am committed to continuing to build my expertise and am currently working toward the 1,500 hours of flight time required to advance as an airline pilot, guided by a passion for learning, perseverance, and a dedication to excellence.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the aviation industry is to persevere and maintain perspective. While the training and early career challenges can be demanding, the rewards such as the unparalleled experience of witnessing sunrises and sunsets from the clouds make the effort worthwhile. Staying committed, embracing every learning opportunity, and keeping your passion for flight at the forefront will help you succeed and thrive in this exciting field.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are service, compassion, and giving back to the community. I actively support organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels, and I take pride in having founded Caroling Strings in high school a charity that continues to bring music to soup kitchens, veteran homes, and schools. These experiences reflect my commitment to making a positive impact, fostering connection, and serving others wherever possible.
